It’s more than a decade since we got this incredible sequel, but it’s hard to imagine exactly how a third contribution would top this modern classic. Throw in one of the greatest standalone co-op campaigns ever made and you have an absolutely amazing adventure filled with unforgettable moments, from the GLaDOS potato sequence to the final moon shot. The writing is more fun, the campaign longer and more layered in its riddles and storytelling. It took the original frame and blew it out into a true classic. Portal 2 is the perfect example of what a sequel can be. Although it has a story mode with over 50 levels, the robust and refined adaptation puts it above the original LittleBigPlanet for us and demonstrated the imaginative possibilities that Media Molecule has continued to explore in Dreams. LittleBigPlanet 2 improves tremendously compared to the Media Molecules platform game and creation franchise formula, adding more level design capabilities and the ability to essentially create a game within a game. In almost every way, Arkham City cemented Rocksteady’s bid for the Dark Knight. Arkham City not only takes a “more is better” approach, but finds truly surprising and delightful ways to draw different characters from the Batman myth into one incredible adventure.īy preserving the core battle, exploration, and stardom of the stars from Asylum, City finds inventive new ways to throw shocking challenges on Batman’s path with a wealth of incredible villain side-mission stories, a more varied upper world, and a deeper, moving story like Kevin Conroy’s Batman and Mark Hamill’s Joker retrieves their showdown from the first game.

Add to that a moving story that really digs into why the titular duo is so enduring – and has endured for so long – and A Crack in Time delivers one of the best action games on PS3.īatman blew the doors of what the Arkham series could be, and stretched beyond the boundaries of its former but still stunning first entrance, Arkham Asylum, for a larger, riveting sequel. The ability to experiment with new parts to customize your weapons and the addition of Hoverboots add much more mechanical depth to the battle and exploration. Although the formula for the series remained largely the same, A Crack in Time brings with it a moving story and some amazing gameplay additions that make it one of the franchise’s best excursions.

Although it debuted on PS2, the series saw six new contributions during the PS3 era, and for our bolts, A Crack in Time is the best Ratchet & Clank game released on PS3. Since 2002, the Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank series has been a strong, enduring part of the PlayStation franchise. But with that all in mind, here are our picks for the 10 best PS3 games ever. Believe me, it hurts one in the selection panel just as much as it probably hurts you not to see games like Resistance, Ni no Kuni, Catherine and more on the list. With that in mind, there were MANY games that just missed the cut, but which our decision-making team loved. We also took into account how these games are holding up now, even though it was not quite as important to our formula. First of all – how great was the game when it was actually released, and perhaps just as important, how defining was it for the life of the PS3? That does not mean that we completely discount on multiplatform games – as you can see on the list, there were many good ones we had to include. In this regard, we have kept a few factors in mind. With the PS3’s 15th anniversary upon us, we reviewed the PS3’s library again to compile a list of its best games. PlayStation 3 did not exactly get off to a good start, but the system’s library grew steadily to include a host of phenomenal multiplatform games and exclusives that would not only define the PS3, but would cement Sony’s brand as a home for blockbuster exclusives.
